The creation of a national organization for choral conductors was proposed at the First National Summit for Choral Music (NSCM) organized by the Junior Philippine Conductors Association (JPCA) and the Ateneo De Manila College Glee Club (ACGC).
The guest speakers of the summit were: Jean Claude Wilkens (Secretary General of the International Federation for Choral Music); Thomas Schüle (Director, Choral Olympics); Jonathan Velasco; Janet Sabas-Aracama (Chairperson, Conducting Department, College of Music, University of the Philippines); Eudenice Palaruan (Principal Conductor, The San Miguel Master Chorale); and Elaine Aliga (Member, World Youth Choir 2004).
A choral performance featured the University of the East Chorale, University of the Philippines Concert Chorus, Philippine Children’s Chorus, and the Ateneo Chamber Singers.

A core group of volunteers drafted the vision, mission and goals of an organization which would be called as the "Philippine Choral Directors Association".

The formation of a Mindanao core group and sub-groups under the PCDA umbrella was initiated at the Second
National Summit for Choral Music.
A seed fund of P4,000 was raised from the participants.

Core group volunteers met to identify the most important and urgent activities of the PCDA.
2008

The PCDA Board of Directors was created and the first members were elected: Jonathan Velasco (President), Ma. The PCDA Board of directors were re-elected and positions for Secretary General and Regional Coordinators were created by the General Assembly at the First Luzon Regional Convention. The General Assembly also elected the Regional Coordinators: Danilo Monte Jr. (NCR), Jason Tiongco (Luzon), Freddy Baldos (Visayas) and Elena Gementiza (Mindano).
The National Masterclass Series for Choral Conductors (NMSCC) was launched.

Oscar Pantaleon Jr. was appointed by the Board of Directors as the first PCDA Secretary General.
October 25 | Philippine International Convention Center
The British Alumni Association granted Libera concert ticket subsidy to various choirs through PCDA.
November 19-22 | University of the Visayas, Cebu City
A roundtable discussion was held by the General Assembly to discuss various issues at the Joint Regional Convention for the Visayas and Mindanao.
The Second National Masterclass for Choral Conductors engaged the following resource persons: Edgardo Manguiat (vocal techniques), Eudenice Palaruan (advanced conducting), Anna Tabita Piquero (basic conducting), Arwin Tan (solfeggio, theory and choral arranging), Leonyl Clarence Torres (movement and choreography) and Msgr. Rudy Villanueva (Visayan choral literature).
The concert series, A Choral Celebration, debuted with the performances of Voice of Cebu (Jesson Albaran, conductor), Mandaue Children’s Choir (Dennis Sugarol, conductor), Cebu Chamber Singers (Dennis Sugarol, conductor), Loboc Children’s Choir (Alma Fernando-Taldo, conductor), University of the Visayas Chorale (Anna Tabita Piquero, conductor) and the University of the East Chorale (Anna Tabita Piquero, conductor).

Lourdes Hermo (different approaches to teaching sight-reading), Eudenice Palaruan (folk and modern fusion), John Pamintuan (choral competitions), Anna Tabita Piquero (pop music for choirs), Thomas Schuele (choosing the right international festival or competition for your choir), Branko Stark (maintaining proper vocal health), Onyl Torres (synergy for choirs), Jonathan Velasco (group singing) and Peter von Wienhardt (the art of accompaniment).
