2004


November 27 | Ateneo De Manila University, Quezon City
  • The creation of a national organization for choral conductors was proposed at the First National Summit for Choral Music (NSCM) organized by the Junior Philippine Conductors Association (JPCA) and the Ateneo De Manila College Glee Club (ACGC).
  • The guest speakers of the summit were: Jean Claude Wilkens (Secretary General of the International Federation for Choral Music); Thomas Schüle (Director, Choral Olympics); Jonathan Velasco; Janet Sabas-Aracama (Chairperson, Conducting Department, College of Music, University of the Philippines); Eudenice Palaruan (Principal Conductor, The San Miguel Master Chorale); and Elaine Aliga (Member, World Youth Choir 2004).
  • A choral performance featured the University of the East Chorale, University of the Philippines Concert Chorus, Philippine Children’s Chorus, and the Ateneo Chamber Singers.

2005


April 23 | Seminar Room A, Technological Institute of the Philippines, Quezon City
  • A core group of volunteers drafted the vision, mission and goals of an organization which would be called as the "Philippine Choral Directors Association".

May 20-21 | Capitol University, Cagayan De Oro City
  • The formation of a Mindanao core group and sub-groups under the PCDA umbrella was initiated at the Second National Summit for Choral Music.
  • A seed fund of P4,000 was raised from the participants.

May 31 | Newsong Ministries Office, Gospel Light Baptist Church, Quezon City
  • Core group volunteers met to identify the most important and urgent activities of the PCDA.

2008


January 9 | Asian Institute of Liturgy and Music, Quezon City
  • The PCDA Board of Directors was created and the first members were elected: Jonathan Velasco (President), Ma. Lourdes Hermo (Vice President), Gideon Bendicion (Secretary of the Board), Arwin Tan (Treasurer), Mark Anthony Carpio (Member, Artistic Board), Anna Tabita Piquero (Member, Artistic Board) and Leonyl Clarence Torres (Member, Artistic Board).

February 5 | SEC Building, Mandaluyong City
  • The Securities and Exchange Commission issued the Certificate of Incorporation of the Philippine Choral Directors Association Inc.

February 7 | Sweet Inspirations, Quezon City
  • The PCDA Board of Directors held its first meeting.

 April 7-24 | Quezon City
  • PCDA's first membership drive recruited 60 participants of the AILM Conductors Workshop and 7 of the UP Kodaly Seminar.

2009


April 14-18 | Saint Louis University, Baguio City
  • The PCDA Board of directors were re-elected and  positions for Secretary General and Regional Coordinators were created by the General Assembly at the First Luzon Regional Convention.  The General Assembly also elected the Regional Coordinators: Danilo Monte Jr. (NCR), Jason Tiongco (Luzon), Freddy Baldos (Visayas) and Elena Gementiza (Mindano).
  • The National Masterclass Series for Choral Conductors (NMSCC) was launched.

August 31 | Quezon City
  • Oscar Pantaleon Jr. was appointed by the Board of Directors as the first PCDA Secretary General. 

October 25 | Philippine International Convention Center
  • The British Alumni Association granted Libera concert ticket subsidy to various choirs through PCDA.

November 19-22 | University of the Visayas, Cebu City
  • A roundtable discussion was held by the General Assembly to discuss various issues at the Joint Regional Convention for the Visayas and Mindanao.
  • The Second National Masterclass for Choral Conductors engaged the following resource persons:  Edgardo Manguiat (vocal techniques), Eudenice Palaruan (advanced conducting), Anna Tabita Piquero (basic conducting), Arwin Tan (solfeggio, theory and choral arranging), Leonyl Clarence Torres (movement and choreography) and Msgr. Rudy Villanueva (Visayan choral literature).
  • The concert series, A Choral Celebration, debuted with the performances of Voice of Cebu (Jesson Albaran, conductor), Mandaue Children’s Choir (Dennis Sugarol, conductor), Cebu Chamber Singers (Dennis Sugarol, conductor), Loboc Children’s Choir (Alma Fernando-Taldo, conductor), University of the Visayas Chorale (Anna Tabita Piquero, conductor) and the University of the East Chorale (Anna Tabita Piquero, conductor).  

2010


July 24 | Friedens Haus, St. Scholastica's College, Manila.
  • A nationwide audition for the Asia Pacific Youth Choir was conducted.

August 4 & 5 | St. Cecilia's Hall, St. Scholastica's College, Manila.
  • Conductors from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao attended the Brady Allred Masterclass.

November 11-15 | Brokenshire Resort & Convention Center, Davao City
  • The General Assembly at the First National Convention elected a new PCDA Board of Directors: Jonathan Velasco (President); Ma. Lourdes Hermo (Vice President); Leonyl Clarence Torres (Secretary of the Board); Mark Anthony Carpio (Treasurer); Joy Nilo (Member, Artistic Board); Eudenice Palaruan (Member, Artistic Board); and  Anna Tabita Piquero (Member, Artistic Board).
  • The General Assembly expanded the number of Regional Coordinators and elected the following: Irvinne Redor (National Capital Region); Jose Soliman Jr. (Cordillera Administrative Region); Pompeyo Robert Caluya (Region I - Ilocos); Rey Duenas Jr. (Region II - Cagayan Valley); Eric Robert Santos (Region III - Central Luzon); Angelito Ayran Jr. (Region IV-A - CALABARZON); Jobert Matchico (Region IV-B - MIMAROPA); Virgilio Briones (Region V - Bicol); Dennis Sugarol (Region VII - Central Visayas); Michael Tizon (Region VIII - Eastern Visayas); Virginia Angelita Constantinopla (Region IX - Zamboanga Peninsula); Ana Maria De La Fuente (Region X - Northern Mindanao); Alvin Aviola (Region XI - Davao); Perlyn Joy Enriquez (Region XII - SOCCSKSARGEN); Rayfrocina Abao (Region XIII - Caraga Region); Glenn Bydder Sanchez (Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao - ARMM); Rodney Cahinhinan (Pacific Rim); Earl Stanley Lazo (Singapore); and Sarin Chinatanaseri (Continental Asia).
  • The resource persons at the Third National Masterclass Series for Choral Conductors were Atty. Mark Thursday Alciso (intellectual property rights in the choral world), Mark Anthony Carpio (working with young and changing male voices), Ryan Cayabyab (arranging and composing), Ma. Lourdes Hermo (different approaches to teaching sight-reading), Eudenice Palaruan (folk and modern fusion), John Pamintuan (choral competitions), Anna Tabita Piquero (pop music for choirs), Thomas Schuele (choosing the right international festival or competition for your choir), Branko Stark (maintaining proper vocal health), Onyl Torres (synergy for choirs), Jonathan Velasco (group singing) and Peter von Wienhardt (the art of accompaniment).

2011


September 18 | Probinsiya Restaurant, Davao City
  • Region XI conductors met with the Secretary General.

September 24 | Iloilo City
  • Two new members were recruited in Iloilo City.

October 2 | Laoag City
  • Region I conductors met with the Vice President and Secretary General.

October 16 | Capitol University, Cagayan De Oro City
  • The Open Choral Clinic Series was successfully launched.  The clinician was Jonathan Velasco.
  • The President and Secretary General met with conductors from Misamis Oriental, Lanao Del Norte and Bukidnon

October 25 | Philippine International Convention Center

November 5 | Buddy's Restaurant, Lucena City
  • Conductors of the Quezon Province met with the Secretary General.

November 19 | Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City
  • The Thousand-Voice Choir Project kicked off PCDA's 2011 World Choral Day celebrations as it debuted at the "Maestro Ryan Cayabyab at 'Sang Libo't Isang Tinig ng Pasko: The Araneta Center Christmas Special".

November 25 | Shangri-La Plaza, Mandaluyong City
  • PCDA and the National Music Competitions for Young Artists presented a 2011 World Choral Day performance of the Choir Category B winners: Kantika Baao (Virgilio Briones, conductor); Ilocos Norte National High School Youth Choir (Sherween Cabrales, conductor); Muntinlupa Science High School Chorale (Ivy Rose Casiguran-Puri); and University of the Philippines Rural High School Glee Club (Liza Carascal).

November 26 | Centro Escolar University, Manila
  • Irene Marcos-Araneta and Ryan Cayabyab addressed the 2011 General Assembly.
  • The General Assembly reviewed the By-Laws of the association.
  • Winners of the National Music Competitions for Young Artists Choir Category B performed at the General Assembly: Kantika Baao (Virgilio Briones, conductor); Ilocos Norte National High School Youth Choir (Sherween Cabrales, conductor); and Muntinlupa Science High School Chorale (Ivy Rose Casiguran-Puri)
