Beverly Shangkuan, first prize winner in the 2009 American Choral Directors Association National Graduate Conducting Competition, is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting at the University of Michigan. Prior to doing doctoral work, she received a Master of Music from Yale University and a Bachelor of Music (summa cum laude) from the University of the Philippines. Her most recent conducting and academic awards include the 2011 Barbour Fellowship from the University of Michigan, the 2010 Phyllis Curtin Career Entry Award from the Yale School of Music, and the 2010 Margot Fassler Award from the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. At present, she is the conductor of the Residential College Singers at the University of Michigan. Free admission.
